Although brushing and flossing at home is essential to keeping your smile looking it’s best, regular cleanings Through routine dental cleanings and exams, you can potentially prevent tooth decay, gum disease and bad breath. During your routine exams, we are checking for any signs of tooth decay, gum disease and screening for any signs of oral cancer. The hygienist will clean your teeth with a variety of instruments to remove the hard, calcified bacterial buildup of calculus (tartar) while also checking for signs of gum disease and bone loss. This appointment will also give the hygienist an opportunity to discuss your home care habits with you and can help with any questions you may have. Cleanings are not usually painful but if you have any anxiety or nervousness about it, please let us know.
