Dr. Dan Copp grew up in Portland, Oregon, where his parents still reside.  He graduated from The Catlin Gabel School and then headed off to Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. He then transferred to the University of Oregon. While attending the University of Oregon, he earned a Summer Research Fellowship from The Endocrine Society for his research at Oregon Health Sciences University and was ultimately published in the Journal of Comparative Neurology. After graduating from the University of Oregon, he headed to San Francisco to attend the University of the Pacific, Dugoni School of Dentistry. While in dental school, Dr. Copp was, among other things, a representative to the American Dental Education Association, co-organizer of two National Dental Student Lobby Days and won a student scholarship from the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He also became good friends with Dr. Ron Barbieri’s son, Dr. Damon Barbieri (now an orthodontist in Nashville, Tennessee – Barbieriortho.com). That friendship ultimately brought Dr. Copp down to beautiful San Luis Obispo to work with Dr. Ron Barbieri.

Dr. Copp believes in providing excellent care in a manner that is as comfortable and compassionate as possible. His goal is to help you establish a balance of health, function and esthetics that will allow you to enjoy a beautiful smile and a lifetime of oral health. He believes in a conservative approach with an emphasis on education to try to help prevent as many future problems as possible.

Dr. Copp is a member of numerous professional organizations; The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, The Central Coast Dental Society, The California Dental Association & The American Dental Association, to name a few. He is committed to continuing to stay abreast of current and evolving research, techniques and technology and routinely attends continuing education courses. The Dawson Academy is known for its dedication to teaching a comprehensive approach to dentistry with concentrations in occlusion, temporomandibular joints (TMJ) and esthetic restorative dentistry. He is also a member of a Spear Education Study Club that is focused on esthetic dentistry, implant dentistry and complex restorative dentistry.

Dr. Copp enjoys hiking, running, live music and spending time with his daughter, Ella.
